Learn English In Sydney: EAP Courses
Learn English in Sydney at UNSW, the University of Sydney or a number of private English colleges.
EAP stands for English for Academic Purposes. There are 4 levels of EAP certification: EAP 1, EAP 2, EAP 3 and EAP for Masters degrees.
Each level of EAP unlocks the door to more courses. Check with your course to see what level of EAP is required.

EAP Minimum Entry Requirements
EAP courses have minimum entry requirements. Here are the cutoffs for the EAP 1 course. As you can see they vary with different providers:
- UNSW – IELTS 5, TOEFL 473 or Computer TOEFL 150
- Global Village – IELTS 4.5 or completion of Global Village test
- Carrick Education – IELTS 5, TOEFL 475
How Long Is The EAP Course?
The EAP course length varies from provider to provider:
- UNSW – 5 – 10 weeks full time (EAP 1 or 2)
- Global Village – 8 weeks full time (EAP 1, 2 or 3)
- Carrick Education – 10 weeks full time (EAP 1 or 2)
What Do You Get After Completing The EAP?
Completion of the EAP 1 course gives you a level equivalent to IELTS 5.5. The EAP 2 course gives you an equivalent IELTS level of 6.0 after completion.
Again, it’s important to check with your desired course as to what level of EAP / IELTS / TOEFL is required.
