Insider Secrets For An Extraordinary Sydney Holiday!

Cozy Winter Bars In Sydney

Here are some of the best Sydney bars to drink at in winter. These bars have fireplaces, board games or movie nights for winter afternoons.

Madame Fling Flong

Madame Fling Flong is a cosy and classy bar. Think sofas, board games and movie nights. This is the kind of bar that you feel like you can relax in, rather than the type of bar where everybody is trying to look cool.

Address: 169 King St Newtown.

Victoria Rooms

Bring back the British Empire! The Victoria Rooms bar is inspired by the grand colonial bars of the 19th century. Fantastic lanterns and screens dot the room, and the colonial armchairs evoke the days of another era.

Address: Level 1/ 231a Victoria St Darlinghurst.

Lord Dudley Hotel

This is a classic English-style country pub in the middle of one of Sydney’s more exclusive suburbs. With a decor of overstuffed armchairs, fireplaces and a dartboard, you almost wish you had a big-game hunting story or two to tell (no animals were harmed in the writing of this review). In short, this is a cosy pub that is perfect for a few rounds of Guiness or Newcastle Ale on a Sunday afternoon.

Address: 236 Jersey Rd Woollahra.

Tillbury Hotel

The sight of a grand piano greets you as you enter the Tillbury Hotel and straight away you know that this is a classy establishment. Location-wise, the Tillbury Hotel is a stone’s throw from the harbour in Woolloomooloo. There is a fantastic open-air terrace upstairs which is perfect for enjoying the balmy summers Sydney is famous for. Live bands also make the Tillbury a choice pick for summer sounds.

Address: Corner of Nicholson St and Forbes St Woolloomooloo.

CherriJam

I love the Moroccan-inspired decor of CherriJam in Sydney’s exclusive Double Bay. It really sets the scene for a great night out. You almost expect camels to come barging into the bar at any moment. There are also some great live music at CherriJam. However, when the band finishes, the sound system often comes on far too loud. In summary, CherriJam is a great bar for a winter’s night out.

Address: 16 -18 Cross St Double Bay.

The Eastern

The Eastern is one of the new breed of Sydney bars. Classy and stylish, The Eastern helps to bring the Sydney bar scene into the twenty-first century.

The Eastern has four levels, each with a different look or theme. My favourite is Level 2 – the Ruby Lounge. Decked out pretty much all in red, the Ruby Lounge is stylish and trendy. The Eastern is a handy bar to meet people at if you pass through Bondi Junction regularly (which you will if you live in Bondi Beach and you work in the city).

Address: 500 Oxford St Bondi Junction (also accessible from within Westfield Bondi Junction).
